Larklain Veterinary Services
Larklain Veterinary Services originated as an exclusively mobile practice, making house visits to cater to the most sensitive client base in a “Fear Free” environment. RHJ partnered with Larklain early in their search to help evaluate properties and perform property condition assessments to assist in determining the suitability of each location for a veterinary fit-out, and identifying the anticipated costs.
The primary goal of developing a brick & mortar “Fear Free Certified Practice” meant keeping cats and dogs separated at all times to help reduce animal anxiety & stress. The design included state of the art “cat condos” and glass-door, heated and ventilated cage stacks, as well as a carefully chosen color palette that aligns with fear free aesthetics (no reflective surfaces or bright white colors). Also required was special zoning of HVAC systems and airflow design in order maintain room pressurization, ensuring air was not mixed between the two dedicated areas, providing a calm, stress-free experience for both patients and staff alike.
The practice also includes separate operating & dental procedure rooms, an easy access pharmacy, as well as oversized exam rooms that can accommodate most treatments, and cat exam rooms with skylights and window sill exam tables to ensure patient comfort.
